Ras Al Khaimah, UAE; January 1, 2022: In one of the world’s most spectacular New Year’s Eve events, the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah captivated visitors from around the world with mesmerising pyrotechnics show that broke two GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™.

Organised by Marjan, with the support of Ras Al Khaimah’s government entities and designed and produced by GroupeF, the dazzling 12-minute show broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the ‘Highest Altitude Multirotor/Drone Fireworks Display’ with a the tower of fireworks 1,000 metres high, taller than any skyscraper in the world.

The show also clinched another GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ for the ‘Most Remote Operated Multirotors/Drones Launching Fireworks Simultaneously’, with more than 500 drones launching fireworks simultaneously to create an inspiring ‘Happy New Year’ visual over the Arabian Gulf skyline.

More than 15,000 fireworks were used in the show, which were designed at European factories and handcrafted by historic families. More than 130 sea pontoons were also used to launch the fireworks. The pyrotechnic performances spanned an area of over 4.7 kilometres and were specially choreographed to reflect the joy of reunion with six themes set to epic orchestral music.

The event was verified by an official adjudicator from GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™. Following the fireworks gala, George Saad and Biljana Halim received the Guinness World Records titles from the adjudicator.

#RAKNYE 2020 fireworks display was conducted in a six-act sequence starting with the countdown just before midnight. Ushering in the New Year with a spectacular 1,000-metre-tall tower of lights, the next act was a ‘Happy New Year’ message written in the sky with firework drones. This was followed by a tribute to the UAE backed by orchestral music, celebrating the achievements of the nation and its people. It segued to the next act when hundreds of drones displayed the UAE’s 50th Anniversary logo. The finale was in two parts – a multi-colour display of lights and a super-massive expanse of white that illuminated the skyline.

Various government entities contributed to the success of the event including Marjan, Ras Al Khaimah Police, Ras Al Khaimah Government Media Office, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce, Public Works, Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, Al Hamra and others.
