The second edition of the Migration Media Award rewarded 41 journalists from 18 countries for their journalistic excellence on migration in the Euro-Mediterranean region out of over 200 applications. The award ceremony was held on 18th September at the Acropolium of Carthage in Tunis, Tunisia, under the auspices of the government of the Republic of Tunisia . The winning entries feature fact-based and impartial reporting on the complexity of migration, its many challenges and opportunities. High quality reporting as rewarded by the new journalistic competition is urgently needed to improve the public’s understanding of migration. The Migration Media Award is a journalism competition bringing together the EU funded programmes EUROMED Migration IV led by International Centre for Development of Migration Policy, and the OPEN Media Hub, implemented by the Thomson Foundation, in partnership with the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) and Malta’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion.
