Biberach, 23. April 2024 – Eiffage Énergie Systèmes acquired the EQOS Group from Triton on 23 April 2024, marking a significant milestone for one of the leading providers of complex infrastructure services in the energy, telecommunications, and rail sectors. EQOS, which specialises in overhead line construction, energy, rail, and communication technology, offers a comprehensive range of services covering the entire value chain, from engineering and fitting to maintenance. Established in 1920, the company now employs approximately 1,700 staff across Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, and France.
With 79,300 employees, Eiffage is one of the leading construction and concession companies in Europe. Based in France, the group generated EUR 21.8 billion in revenue from its international markets in 2023. With this transaction, Eiffage expands its regional access, particularly in Germany and Austria, EQOS's core markets. EQOS’s strong performance and entrepreneurial culture, which have been pivotal in securing Eiffage Énergie Systèmes' confidence in the business, will continue to form the foundation of the company’s upcoming growth phase. The EQOS brand will also continue under the new ownership across all business sectors. The terms of the transaction, subject to approval by regulatory authorities, have not been disclosed.
EQOS CEO Eric Mendel shares: "Together with Triton, we have developed and executed a strategy that has transformed EQOS from adversity into a highly profitable growth platform. Despite significant cost increases in recent years, we have successfully maintained steady growth in sustainably attractive markets, enhancing the value and appeal of the company. This impressive progress is fully endorsed by EQOS's acquisition by Eiffage. Therefore, we can look back with pride on this chapter of the company's history. I extend my thanks to all involved - especially our employees - for their trust and excellent collaboration."
New strategic partner supports next phase of growth
EQOS continues to stand for Excellent Quality of Services. Under the new strategic umbrella, the company, with its existing management team, will uphold its commitment to delivering high-quality services for its customers' infrastructure, maintaining its ambitious trajectory of both organic and inorganic growth. The points of contact within EQOS will remain the same.
Ludovic Duplan, Chairman of Eiffage Énergie Systèmes, said: “EQOS will enable Eiffage Énergie Systèmes to enter the market segment of the energy infrastructure particularly in Germany and Austria. In those countries, the acquisition will allow us to densify our network, and to cover all key energy markets: infrastructure of course but also industry and tertiary, covering public and private markets. EQOS will definitively contribute through its know-how and strong market positions to further strengthen Eiffage Énergie Systèmes position amongst top and sustainable players in European Energy Market. In the name of Eiffage Énergie Systèmes, I am wishing all EQOS teams from all over Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, and Luxembourg a warm welcome into Eiffage Group.”
EQOS currently holds a top-three market position in its business sectors. The company has recently made significant strides towards digitisation and process improvement. EQOS has successfully completed and integrated five acquisitions. "Our strengths clearly lie in our highly qualified and motivated employees, to whom we offer long-term security and perspective through the new owner. With Eiffage, we have found a perfect entrepreneurial home for the future. My management team and I are looking forward to managing the next successful chapter of EQOS together," concludes Mendel.
