CODE_N CONTEST: BOSTON-BASED AIRFOX WITH ITS BLOCKCHAIN FINANCE APP FOR MICRO-LOANS

The Boston-based start-up Airfox has developed a revolutionary micro-loan program using blockchain technology. 

 

The Boston-based start-up Airfox has developed a revolutionary micro-loan program using blockchain technology. Their Android app enables people across the world who have no or limited access to credit institutes to get a loan simply by using a smartphone. Airfox’ solution won over the CODE_n CONTEST judging panel and was declared the winner of the “Overall CODE_n Award“ at the Award Show on Tuesday evening endowed with a prize money of €15,000. The company was also awarded with the prize in the “Best Business Model” category.

“This is our first time really being able to get out of the US and being able to share our mission with the European community. This whole experience has been so amazing for me and for Airfox”, Katie Sedat, Head of Marketing, Airfox.

Pioneering business models

The CONTEST was held as part of the new.New Festival 2018 at which everything revolved around “Intelligence X.0”. 50 start-ups presented their business models to an international audience. 

Each winner of the three categories “Best Business Model”, “Best Tech Innovation” and “Best Industry Disruptor” receives prize money of €5,000. Winner of the “Best Industry Disruptor" category was the German start-up thingsTHINKING which develops semantic software solutions that enable computers to understand human speech. The Israel-based start-up Six Degrees Space won out in the “Best Tech Innovation” category. Its innovative optical tracking system technology is setting new standards in terms of speed and precision. 

“Selecting the finalists from over 300 applications was no easy task. All finalists are operating at an absolutely top-class level - technologically, economically or in terms of their vision. I am very pleased to be able to congratulate the winners from Karlsruhe, Jerusalem and Boston on their pioneering business models,” declares Moritz Gräter, Managing Director of CODE_n.
